COVID Update

COVID Step 3 until July 7

We’re currently in Step 3 of BC’s Restart Plan. Here is what this means when it comes to sports:

Outdoor sport

  • Group Size: There is no maximum group size for participants, coaches, volunteers, staff and officials
  • Travel: Canada-wide travel allowed. International travel must follow federal restrictions and guidance.
  • Physical distance does not need to be maintained on or off the field of play.
  • Masks: not required on or off the field of play.
  • Seated events: Up to 5,000 or 50% of capacity, whichever is greater (i.e. if your space holds 8,000 people the capacity is now 5,000. If your space holds 12,000 people the capacity is now 6,000) 

Indoor sport

  • Group Size: There is no maximum group size for participants, coaches, volunteers, staff and officials
  • Travel: Canada-wide travel allowed. International travel must still follow federal restrictions and guidance.
  • Physical distance does not need to be maintained on or off the field of play.
  • Masks: not recommended on the field of play. Masks are recommended off the field of play for those 12 and over who have not received both immunization shots.
  • Seated events: Up to 50 or 50% of capacity, whichever is greater (i.e. if your space holds 75 people the capacity is now 50. If your space holds 500 people the capacity is now 250).

COVID Step 2 until July 1

We’re currently in Step 2 of BC’s Restart Plan. Here is what this means when it comes to sports:

Adult and youth outdoor and indoor group and team sports

All outdoor and indoor group sports for adults and youth are allowed. This includes:

  • Games
  • Competitions
  • Practices

Contact your local sports organization:

  • For guidance on current COVID-19 Safety Plan requirements
  • To discuss safety plan adjustments that will align with BC’s Restart plan

Spectators

Up to 50 spectators are allowed at outdoor sport activities.

Spectators are not allowed at any indoor sport activities. The only people allowed to attend indoor sport activities are those that provide care to a participant or player. For example, providing personal care or first aid to a player.

Travel for sport

Travel for sport is allowed.

COVID Phase 1 until June 15

Based on the BC’s Restart plan that was announced last week, we are currently in Phase 1, until at least June 15. The  restrictions in Phase 1 include:

  • Indoor low intensity group exercise allowed with limited capacity
  • Outdoor games and practices for both adults and youth group/team sports allowed
  • No spectators at any indoor or outdoor sport activities
