Wayne McCarthy
Technical Coach
Wayne began coaching with the club in 2005, earned his Community Coach credentials from 2006-2010, and upgraded to the current “Soccer for Life” in 2013. He assisted with the club’s Academy program from 2006-2013 and coaches with the Spring and Futsal programs, serving as a mentor to younger coaches, since 2007. He’s held various coordinator positions on the club executive since 2007. He became Head Coach of the New Westminster Secondary School Hyacks Senior Girls soccer team in 2013 and guided the team to the Provincial finals in 2017 (the school’s first appearance in over 17 years). He joined the NWSC – Skills Enhancement Program as a coach in 2019-20. He continues to coach at the club level with a younger girls’ team and assists with the NWSC “Blackout”, a highly successful adult women’s team. Wayne also holds coaching certifications in hockey.

Sarah McCarthy
Technical Coach
Sarah started playing soccer in New Westminster in 2005 on a U8 house team. She’s spent her entire soccer career with New West and was called up to play with the Provincial A cup winning U15 Metro Girls “Barcelona” in 2012. In high school, Sarah was a member of league banner winning teams in 2015 and 2016. She currently plays for the NWSC “Blackout”.
Sarah began coaching with the Spring program in 2011 as a volunteer coach and acquired her coaching credentials between 2014 and 2019, including all levels up to “Soccer For Life”. She continues to coach with the Spring program and is a Skills Enhancement Program coach. She also coaches at the club level with a younger girls team. Additionally, she is also a certified BC Soccer Referee.

KAYLA KLIM
Goalkeeper Coach
Kayla grew up in Burnaby, BC and played for the B.C. Provincial Program as well as the Whitecaps Girls Elite Program before committing to the University of the Fraser Valley. During her time at UFV, Kayla was named MVP for two of her matches played at the National Championships Tournament. Kayla also played a summer with the Seattle Sounders Women’s Program before going on to play professionally in Sweden.
